80% of the job market is hidden and I know that is a very controversial subject but what I want to do is pull back the curtain on these hidden job opportunities and show you where these opportunities lie because there are companies like Google Apple and Goldman Sachs all hiring quietly behind the scenes on jobs that you've never seen before and I'm going to show you how to tap into those opportunities because with big opportunities come big salaries and that is what you deserve so first I want you to go subscribe to this channel like this video and then let's do this y'all so what's the real deal with the hidden job market so everybody is scouring the job boards they're dealing with recruiters that are not getting back to them they're completely ghosting them you're you're applying into these massive voids of black holes right if you hear back you are one of the lucky few that are either getting a rejection notice or an interview fingers crossed right but here's the thing companies are filling roles through Word of Mouth referrals and yes networking and I do mean networking like a pro not just posting your resume on LinkedIn going please share this with everybody because that is not working you really got to get out there do that calculated strategy to find out who you need to talk to what jobs you need to speak to and get in there so that you are the referral going into that interview not your competitor 80% I'll give it to you it's kind of high it's sounds insane and you know there's not really an industry standard for this there's chatter and like I said it's a very controversial number there are a lot of opportunities available and what I want you to realize is that just because you see it on a job Board number one doesn't mean that it's actually an open job and you probably have already seen that where they go oh I'm sorry we've already filled this position but it's still advertised same thing goes for jobs that are not advertised they have them available through internal promotions or confidential company searches and these are done with very specialized recruitment companies like blue signal or lmax and they are going out and doing confidential searches um big companies like apple meta and McKenzie are all really big on utilizing these because then they are going out to find the top talent that is their focus and you know there's a lot of recruiters out there that say no this absolutely doesn't happen they might just not be tucked into this side of it as well not all recruiters are going to know about every single job available at a certain company at any time and there's a lot of companies that are actually always just searching for the very best candidates out there that they just have people looking and finding them because people that are top talent may not always be scouring the job boards but companies want to hire them because it's all about their growth and what they're doing next I'm going to show you three actionable steps that you can take to find jobs whether it's hiring internally within your own company or finding external roles um that other companies are hiring for but you have to go behind the scenes for and you have to know how to do it and I'm going to show you that but first I I really want to break it down into what companies are doing and their psychology behind how they hire and what they do maintaining discretion and avoiding Market disruption is one of the key focuses of the major players like Goldman and Apple and Google and meta the list goes on so they do conduct confidential searches that are really focused on finding those senior roles and Senior leadership that they need to fulfill to keep that growth momentum going and yes sometimes they do look internally um McKenzie is also really big on in hiring internally but a lot of these companies are just constantly looking and finding top talent and taking them and picking them out of other companies and bringing them into the fold when you're dealing with MacKenzie for instance or any other big consulting firms they are actually working with direct head hunters and confidential search recruitment firms that are going out and finding the next level senior partners for them but because that's happening how do you know because if that job's not available you can't apply to it so you have to be able to be in that fold in that mix of Head Hunters a lot of Head Hunters are going to say if they don't know who you are now it's very hard for them to fulfill that role so you need to meet with them and network with them and really get in so that when an opportunity does arise they can reach out to you and go hey Amanda I have the best senior leadership role for you this is it let's talk and let's get you into an interview you because those are the ideal situations so companies like GE IBM and Johnson and Johnson are actually really big on hiring within so if you're currently working for a company that you know does a lot of internal hires and a quick Google search is going to tell you this then you should be looking and talking to their hiring teams to say hey I'm ready for a promotion I'm ready for a different role whatever it might be I would like to talk to you to find out what's available so that I can get in there and be that candidate for you when you're ready here's what I've been doing this is what I can offer you guys let's talk these are really important things that you need to be doing even if you are not job hunting because if you can be there when company needs you it's golden guys so the first thing I want you to do is to think about this I want you to be the first person on everybody's mind when a new role opens up how do you do that so this is kind of a combination of networking and just getting out there and being who you are as an industry leader knowing your stuff and just kind of being that personal brand that you know you need to be but maybe you're showing away from it because it's social media or whatnot and you just are like I'm just don't want to do this or I don't have the time to do this or I just don't want to put myself out there you have to put yourself out there so this this type of networking is a matter of kind of just being out there and this is part of that brand building that you want to do this isn't the connection request on LinkedIn or anything like that if those happen within the Run great this whole step one is about your insights and sharing them with everybody whether it's on LinkedIn or you have a substack or a beehive or any kind of newsletter that anybody can like read you really want to focus on being that industry leader what are your thoughts about what's going on and it's not that you have to step away and become some influencer or a thought leader or something like that it's really great if you want to but this isn't like this isn't like a massive homework detail for you but this concept of making sure that you are in everybody's mind what a role is available this works so even if you are looking for an internal role you need to go make sure that those people see what you're doing that know what you're doing and maybe that is a quick thing where you have to go introduce yourself ahead of time and then they're watching you um you can invite them to be a part of your newsletter you can invite them to just you know chat with you anytime they have any questions about ex department you work in or whatever you want to be at the Forefront of their mind at all times so I'm going to show you my final tip to make sure that you can tap into this hidden job market in a minute but the second thing I want to talk about is that you're networking and I know you were like oh yep she was going to go with that but it's not your normal networking what I see a lot of people do is that they go on LinkedIn and they just had a bunch of recruiters and they're just random and they have actually no idea who they are adding and that is not the best St this is kind of like that mass applying thing when you're Mass applying for jobs you have to be really really focused and really strategic on who you're talking to and yes while it's great to talk to recruiters realize a lot of them are going to ghost you a lot of them are just so inundated they cannot get back to everybody it is actually possible this is where your networking is going to get very calculated and very strategized to help you find the hidden job opportunities that are available out there so once you are ready to start applying what I really want you to think about is focusing in on the companies that you like that you want to aim for and the roles that they have so you are going to go talk to your colleagues of past roles and and maybe they work at these companies nowadays or you're going to go talk to the hiring managers or you're going to go speak to these specialized recruitment fs and go hey I would love to get to know you because remember what I said before Head Hunters always say I'm not looking for a job for you I want to find people for a job you have to know them before they have a job opening so that you get the offer and not anybody else so you want to be within that mix always so this networking that you're doing is really really crucial it takes a lot of time honestly it's G to take about as much time as it does to go through a regular job search but you know what you're not on job boards and you're not having to scour all that and do the regular and get those nasty rejection letters so it's better trust me but when you are talking to a department head when you are talking to a specialized recruiter or a head hunter or somebody that really is in the know that has the opportunity to go oh actually I think you would be a really good fit for this you need to be able to have that clear elevator pitch for them that you know kind of just gives them a quick rundown whether it's something that you send in an email and a message on LinkedIn or even if it's something where they just go hey can we do a quick five minute phone call this isn't necessarily informational interview but it is one of those things where they just want to know who you are what you're doing what you have done so that they can figure out where you might fit in the roles that they need to fill I've seen a lot of people land incredible jobs by doing this you just have to think outside the box and you have to really focus on your search it is not just a case where you can be like I will take any job whatever just find me one it is not that and head hunters do not work for you they work for the companies so think about that as you are speaking to them that they are there for the companies you just have to be the right person for them and they are going to bring you into that mix and bring you into an interview and you are going to find an incredible opportunity and usually they tend to have a really great salary attached to them there's not a lot of negotiating it is just great don't you just love the power and being proactive in the job search I really like this and you know I I really appreciate you coming in and watching this video with me because I think this is really important and the more that you know about this you're going to be able to work on your own job search but you're going to be able to help others be able to find and tap into these hidden opportunities because there are so many jobs out there companies are trying to find the top talent all the time I speak to HR leaders from major companies on the regular and they are always saying the same thing I am not finding qualified candidates and I really need the top talent we are are looking to grow we are not looking to do that major training we just need somebody that can get in there and do it so you have got to be that candidate and this is what companies need this is this is the future of hiring you guys you know this reskilling upskilling just being that candidate it's not enough that you are just a candidate anymore you have to be the candidate they're looking for and this is super super important if you're going for these hidden job roles that companies just have that they just need to fill how can you be that person well that brings me to step three my favorite I think a lot of people will be surprised this is my most important but LinkedIn if your LinkedIn profile does not stand out that is going to be the first thing that they look at so yes they might have spoken to you maybe they even asked for a resume they're going to go look and see who you are what does your LinkedIn say about you and you also have to remember that even if you aren't being the proactive person going out there these other companies are actually looking for people all the time so your LinkedIn profile has got to be just absolutely killer to really stand out there are so many people that have a very basic listing their headline is job title a ex company what is that that's not who you are let's bring out what you have to offer companies so when you are talking to that specialized recruiter or that hiring manager that is looking for this very specific role they go look on LinkedIn for you to go check you out your LinkedIn looks amazing because they just want to go oh good we found the person let's talk to them and unless there's some major red flag that pops up you're going to be a top candidate for them you know why because your LinkedIn looks slick you have got to focus on that it has to have the right information on there it has to have the right bio it has to have the right headline and the right branding who are you as a professional what are they going to think about you before you walk into the room before they speak to you again what do they think so again you know this hidden job market totally exists you can tap into it you have to be able to look at your LinkedIn you have to be able to network and you have to really be able to make sure that you get out there and do things in a very very different way to find the right people you can do this the job search is actually really impossible right now but when you do this properly you're very calculated you're very strategized on what you're doing and it's not just a spray and prey concept of mass applying you will get really far in your job search and you know what if you can tap into this hidden job market you are going to just love your next job because what I am seeing is that people are seeing longer when you can find the right role that you love you are going to stay there companies are going to love you you're going to be up for promotions bigger salaries and that
