Ciao a tutti! Hello everyone ! Today I am teaching you the essential vocabulary if you are ill and have to go to the doctor in France. This is the first part of the video because in a few weeks I will be putting the second part for you. Today we will see the vocabulary for going to the doctor, the symptoms that you may have and until the consultation with the doctor. Welcome to my channel. My name is Aurélie and I propose to help those who are learning French and who already speak it a little bit to develop their vocabulary and improve their oral comprehension. I make two videos a week on particular themes such as homonyms, synonyms and also typically French expressions and also vlogs where I take you with me on a walk to show you a little of the French heritage.
So if you haven't done so yet, consider subscribing and go take a quick look at my channel. And here we go for the video of the day! To begin with, I must tell you that the word doctor is a very general word. We say "we are going to the doctor". We can also say "we are going to the doctor". Doctor or doctor it's the same thing. So we go to the doctor when we are sick, when we are not feeling well, when we need to be vaccinated or when we need a medical certificate to play sports. Before going to the doctor, we have to make an appointment. Either we make a telephone appointment by calling the doctor's office, or we make an appointment online on the internet. On the day of the appointment, we go to the doctor's office and when we arrive, we wait in the waiting room until it is our turn. When it is our turn, the doctor or the doctor comes to pick us up. The doctor first asks us why we come to see him, what are our symptoms, what is wrong.
So this is where you can describe your symptoms. And you are going to tell him for example I have a sore throat, I have a cough, I have a runny nose, I have a fever, I have a stomach ache, I have nausea, I want to throwing up, my arm hurts or my leg hurts or my back hurts or my shoulder hurts, I have muscle aches, I have diarrhea if I go too much in the bathroom or if you cannot go to the bathroom you tell him I am constipated, I am weak, I am very tired, I can not eat, I am not hungry and I have pimples.
These are all symptoms. Then the doctor does an auscultation, that is to say he auscultates you, he listens to your heart and your lungs with his stethoscope, he takes your blood pressure, he can also weigh you to know your weight and he can measure you to know your size. Then, with the help of your symptoms and his auscultation, the doctor makes his diagnosis, that is, he tells you what you are suffering from. Then the doctor writes a prescription, which is a document on which he says what to do.
So either he prescribes you medical examinations, that is to say that you will have to pass an X-ray, a scanner, an ultrasound. Or he will prescribe you medical analyzes, that is to say a blood test. He may also prescribe medications that are either in the form of tablets, syrup, spray, or vitamins. He may also prescribe antibiotics. Then when you leave the doctor, you go to the pharmacy with your prescription to buy your medicine. That's it for the video of the day. Hope you learned a lot. If so, say so in the comments. Remember to put a thumb too, that would be very nice and it helps the chain to develop. Very soon I will put you the second part of this video where I will explain the names of all the different doctors that you can go to see in France.
For example which doctor to see if your eyes hurt, which doctor if your stomach aches, which doctor if you need to take your children … I will give you the names of all the medical specialties. In the meantime I wish you to stay in good health and I tell you very soon for a next video. A presto, ciao ciao!.
