Hi everyone, welcome to this PKP school
course on the editorial workflow in OJS 3. In this course we're going to go over
every step of the OJS 3 workflow, including submission, review, copy editing
and production. You're also going to learn about the different roles in OJS,
from an author making their submission through to an editor, publishing a new
issue. Because there are so many different roles involved in publishing,
we're gonna work with this group of actors to portray the journal editor, the
author, the reviewer and more. We'll introduce each of them as their role
enters into the editorial workflow. If you haven't already done the previous
course, "Setting up a journal with OJS 3", you might want to do that first. That
course provides you with a demonstration journal you can use for testing out the
concepts we'll be covering in this course. If you've used OJS 2 before,
you'll recognize a lot of similarities with this new version. But also some very
important differences, including more flexibility in the use of the workflow
stages, more flexibility in who is involved at each stage and a new way to
communicate between different people working with an individual submission.
Each module in this course consists of a learning objective, a video, often some
additional reading and activity in some discussion.
Please feel free to share
your questions, thoughts and experiences as you work your way through the modules in the course. The course is completely free of charge and you are invited to
work through the modules at your own pace. By the end of it, you'll have a good
sense of how OJS 3 can help you run your journal. Let's get started..
